“But this is the new covenant
I will make…” says the Lord. “I will put my instructions
deep within them, and I will write them on their hearts.” – Jeremiah 31: 33
JESUS didn’t pay the price just to get us into heaven; He also
paid the price to get heavenly ways into us now – right here during our troubled
earthly lives. The circumstances we grow up in help to shape us, our characters
and our attitudes, much of it with grim results. But the Holy Spirit that
Christ sent to dwell in the hearts of believers overcomes and produces love,
joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness and faithfulness in us. His presence
in our lives enables us to live by His spiritual priorities, not by the
anything-goes rights (and mostly wrongs) that pervade the world today. The Lord’s
personal and active presence in your life makes all the difference between good
and bad, between joy and being sad.
