“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind
and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be
troubled or afraid.” – John 14: 27
THE longing for inner peace can be
overwhelming, yet it is within reach. But then we must truly accept God’s gift
that our world cannot give - peace of mind and heart! We obviously can’t
control everything the world throws at us, but many of our worries are
self-inflicted. Either way, we often fret and worry, though God tells us we
need not be troubled or afraid. We must become more willing to confess our own
shortcomings that may add to anxieties. Our responses to our stresses can make
us victims or victors. So hand the problems, whatever their cause, to Jesus and
spend more of your time achieving whatever you can – and boosting your morale.
Jesus made our peace of mind and heart possible by sending the Holy Spirit to
control our inner responses. For peace’s sake, use it. In these times of random
violence, corruption, and avarice the old saying has never rung so true – ‘No
God, no peace. Know God, know peace.’
