“Everyone who hears these words of
mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” –

JESUS wants us to build our lives
on a firm foundation by putting His Word to good use. We can do this by knowing
them (some by chapter and verse!), by believing them, by living according to
them, and by speaking them. The latter option is not always as easy as it may sound.
I certainly am guilty of shutting up when I should speak up, and of sometimes talking
convenient nonsense when I should actually shut up. Some of us need to ask the
Lord to guide our tongues so that we speak words that help others when they are
hurting or in need; so that we pray for people and to bless them, and so that
we speak God’s truth when others blaspheme. He has given us all great potential
to impact the lives of others with the words who speak. We might not all have
the political power or academic proficiency of some so-called “advisors”, but
as believers, we have the power to be living testimonies to the wonders of His
life-giving Word.
PRAYER THOUGHT: Lord, may
the words I speak be guided by the Spirit and give my tongue Your discernment.
