“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but
let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you
will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect”
– Romans 12: 2.
THE God of the Bible is of another order to us. He doesn’t
live in time and space like we do, or (obviously) in an estate, cottage, or
house as we do; He doesn’t consume, He creates. And nor does He think as we do
– of ourselves first, and of material and physical things. Yet He promises (see
above) to transform the way we think so that we can begin to learn His
thoughts, His commands, and the way He wants us to live. God thinks of love
everlasting, of our families, of the men and women He made to propagate the
species, to become His family, and to spread the gospel of Jesus. He thinks of His
relationships with us, of providing us with truth, hope, joy, and justice. He
thinks of helping us overcome the evil, the man-made doctrines, and greedy
desires of this world. By His grace, He sent the Holy Spirit to help us think –
and behave – in the manner His Son Jesus demonstrated so humbly, and so
perfectly.
