“The Lord looks down from
heaven
and sees the whole human race.
From his throne he observes
all who live on the earth …
He understands everything they do”. - Psalm
33: 13 – 15
IN a time when a
dominant new normal protocol is “social distancing”, the need to get closer to
God is paramount. If we are missing gathering with fellow believers to worship
our God - or becoming accustomed to lounging on the couch, coffee in hand, watching
mega-money preachers on TV – we must find other ways of getting up close and
intimate with God and His disciples. Part of my solution has been to turn to
the psalms. I mentioned recently that Jesus
loved them and quoted them, they cover global eternity, and personal intimacy. We
too can find comfort and inspiration in them, constantly, whenever needed, at
day or at night. They are spiritual food that help us keep us keep our hearts
close to Lord – and fill us with “radiant joy”.
“I
prayed to the Lord, and he answered me.
He freed me from all my fears.
Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy;
no shadow of shame will darken their faces.” - Psalm
34: 4- 5
