“Look at the splendor of your skies,
your creative genius glowing in the heavens.
When I gaze at your moon and your stars,
mounted like jewels in their settings,
I know you are the fascinating artist who fashioned it
all!
But I have to ask this question:
Why would you bother with puny, mortal man
or care about human beings?” – Psalm 8: 3 -
4
GOD’s Word
makes us think; It makes us ponder and should make us pray. How and why did He
do His creation? Why, as the psalmist asks above, did He create the magnificent,
bejeweled universe, and then bother with putting puny, mortal man in charge of
everything on earth - the forests, the fields, the skies, the herds, the beasts,
the oceans filled with creatures? Perhaps it is not for us yet to know how, but
His Word gives us insight into why. Why? Because of His love for us we are made
in the Lord’s image, and because God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to be the
Son of Man, our Savior, and to enable us human beings adopt and deploy the
divine overtones of God’s way, His truth, and His life for this world. What a
mighty anointment; what a divine responsibility!
“You have delegated to them
Mastery over all you have made…
Placing the earth itself under the feet
Of Your image-bearers. – Psalm 8: 6
