“Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green.” – Psalm 92: 14
THOSE who
face the challenges that come with old age must take heart. I was given a new
perspective of this by a funny little picture on social media yesterday; its
caption said: “DON’T REGRET GROWING OLDER - IT’S A PRIVILEGE DENIED TO MANY”.
That’s a great reason to thank God for every new day. He gave us life and the
longer that life lasts, the greater the gift. As one who was born again at 60,
I know that as we start to tire, God might want us to check our strategy for
living and add more of His love, guidance, and wisdom into our game plan. As on
the field of play, it is often in the 2nd half – even in extra time
– that life’s game can be won. Sadly, as we all know, not everyone lasts into
extra time. Let those who get that gift, focus on Christ, praise Him, and use
that time wisely to achieve the goal that gives us eternal victory.
