‘Agrippa interrupted him. “Do you think you can
persuade me to become a Christian so quickly?”’ – Acts 26: 28
THE powerful,
the plutocrats, and the arrogant need to know the story of Jesus as much as the
poor and lonely. In our corrupt times, and in nation after nation, we should
let Paul’s example remind us that we mustn’t regard all power mongers in high
places as beyond redemption. The Bible doesn’t record whether King (Herod)
Agrippa ever became a Christian or not, but Paul, in chains, did share the gospel with this King of Judea
who reigned with Roman approval. And Paul replied that whether Herod was
converted quickly or not at all, he still prayed for him (and the assembly of
power-drunk dignitaries who were with him). In our eyes, many of the high and
seemingly mighty may be lost causes, but pray for them anyway; they are not
unreachable by Christ the Savior.
