“...for I seek not to please
myself but him who sent me.” – John 5: 30
AN important aspect of maturity, whether in the material things of life or the spiritual, is the desire to help others. The more immature we are, the more we just want to please ourselves; the more we grow up, the more we want to reach out to others. Jesus set the bar and took maturity to the godly level, as He illustrates in this scripture. I – and I am only one among many – need to regularly remind myself that by His sacrifice of life itself, He cleared the way for us to be forgiven, to grow to in maturity and please God by becoming able to avoid greedy ways creeping in and becoming bad habits that don’t please Him.
