“I will speak to kings about your
laws, and I will not be ashamed. How I delight in Your commands! How I love
them!” – Psalm 119: 46
WHENEVER we feel powerless to
influence the dangers and threats imposed on our communities and our nations by
incompetent, corrupt, or evil authorities, we need to pray for greater courage
and devotion. The Bible has the perfect words to guide us. Now matter how
limited we may think our position is in such matters, the Psalmist reminds
believers that God’s commands have no limit (Psalm 119: 96). They empower us to
“speak to kings” about His commands without fear, but with “delight”.
All people – no matter how lofty or antagonistic - need to hear His perfect and
infallible Word and we should delight in praying it over them and that their ears
be opened. Take courage in the knowledge that “No power in the sky above
or in the earth below…will ever be able to separate us from the love of God
that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8: 39)
