Short circuits

"Rejoice in the Lord always; again, I will say, rejoice!" – Philippians 4: 4

HAVE you been complaining again? Sick and tired of lame election promises, self-serving politicians, loadshedding by an incompetent, tax-funded non-provide? Join the club. No don’t - far better that we follow Paul’s repeated advice in Philippians and quit the club of grumblers who find fault all the time despite the blessings in their lives. Just look around you – others, in their millions, are far worse off. Count your blessings that come from above. Paul always looked for the blessing hidden in his troubles. Grumbling, he taught, short circuits faith in God, but joy restores it. The very word “rejoice” means to restore joy. Our joy needs to be restored, re-found. Like wi-fi gets your laptop back online, so “rejoicing” links you to God, restoring His power and His joy in your life, whatever the  the irritations that surround us and short circuit our faith in God’s blessings.
