“And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God” – Deuteronomy 28: 2
NEED some help? We all do, some more often than others, and that
is why one of the most central gifts of Christ is that we can help each other
to cope with our burdens (see Galatians 6: 2). Whether it be poverty, illness,
misfortune, old age or simply guidance, God has equipped all of us to help
others in some way – and others to help us. The rewards of obedience are great.
The scripture above promises that the blessings of obeying God’s voice will
“overtake you”; they’ll surpass your needs. Just remember, however much you
help others, those who you may come to depend on, or those who depend on you, are put there by God. Thank Him for them, but
also know that He is the ultimate provider. And pray that neither you, nor your
helpers, will ever get weary of obeying the voice of the Lord.
