Calming the storms

When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. Then he asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” - Mark 4: 39

IT took the calm ripples of the ocean lapping the shore at Gordon's Bay to turn my thoughts to Jesus and His words that rebuked the howling wind and waves and restored calm. Theirs was a storm of nature but storms come in many forms. And my reminder was that when life and its storms of controversy and its raging currents of fear are thrashing around us, He can still command the things of your world to "Be still" if you ask Him to speak peace into your life. Whatever is causing our anxiety, it gives us two options - to panic, or to resist fear and put our faith in Him. He wants us to confess our fear to him, and trust him to rebuke the raging storms and restore great calm.
