Heart of what matters

“…and He has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything he has promised us.” – 2 Corinthians 1: 22

WHY must we Christians have a heartfelt need for God; not just sometimes when we’re in the mood or in need, but with all our hearts, all the time? God sent the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with love. The heart is the centre of one’s life, of love, of joy, of sorrow, of courage and desires. It is the home of emotions and reasoning; it is crucial in the battle between wisdom and foolishness. The bible gives it the highest of priorities in Proverbs 4: 23; “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” Yes, it really is the heart of what matters. Read the scripture above again; having the Holy Spirit in our hearts is “the first installment that promises everything” God has promised us. And remember, the heart can see what is invisible to the eye.
