“So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new
relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made
us friends of God.” – Romans 5: 11
THE word I
wrote yesterday was called “Friend indeed”; today I am happy to pen this
confirmation headed, “A Friend in need”. Unusually, I woke today with a
feeling of oppression hanging over me. I say this as a person who wakes each
day and thanks the Lord for the blessing of another day; I love life. I guess
it’s the looming gloom of the pandemic that finally weighed heavily on my mood,
but I felt the need for a friend to talk to. Out of the blues, so to speak, the
words of an old song came to mind, “What a friend I
have in Jesus, all my sins and grief to bear…Have we trials and
temptations? Is there trouble everywhere? We should never be discouraged, take
it to the Lord in prayer.” I then did just that - and the day was
brightened. I felt encouraged, comforted,
and full of joy. My Friend had indeed met my need, yet again.
