A word to think about this weekend:
“And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your
Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots
grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will
grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with
thankfulness.” – Colossians 2: 6 – 7
ARE some of us becoming
Christian bonsais? Neat, nice, well-shaped, pretty to see, trimmed back, but
tidily tucked away in the forests and avenues of life, and not spreading our full
splendor? We must all take care that we don’t become Christians with growing
pains. We must keep watering our spiritual roots with God’s Word or they could shrivel.
We want to keep growing closer to God, and guard against having our growing
roots trimmed back. We must not allow prettiness to replace abundant lives based
on our faith in Jesus. Let’s encourage Christian growth – no matter how small
your role, His Word promises if we grow our faith, our thankfulness will
overflow.
