“God has given
each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to
serve one another.” – 1 Peter 4: 10
GOD speaks to us in many ways. His gifts include word of knowledge and
words of wisdom (see 1 Corinthians 12: 8) concerning the here-and-now and
things yet to come. As scripture says, they are intended to help others. Yesterday
we were reminded that our automatic reaction to that still, small voice ought
to be obedience – “Yes, Lord”, not “Well, let’s just wait and see”. I heard this
week of such a blessed event when a Christian woman (one of our readers) felt
the urgent need to anoint her husband’s car with oil in Jesus’s name. Later that
day he escaped a potentially fatal road smash when an oncoming runaway truck
swerved at the last moment missing his car by inches. A friend who witnessed
the whole drama described it as “a miracle”. Her obedience to Godly guidance saved
her husband’s life, praise God. But with obedience should come diligence, so
why not decide to pray travel safety over ourselves and those we know whenever
we feel the need?
