“Then the Lord God planted a
garden in Eden in the east, and there he placed the man he had made. “– Genesis
2: 8
GOD is the ultimate
gardener. He makes beautiful things, grows them and cares for them. I was
reminded of this by a sermon which quoted Jesus as saying (John 15: 1) that He
was the true vine that helps us bear fruit, but that His Father was the gardener.
Which is why we should draw courage not only from the beauty of nature that
surrounds us, but also from the fact that God the Gardener planted us in His
Garden of Eden so that we could blossom. A sign on a tree I once saw, said: “The
warmth of the sun for pardon, the song of the birds for mirth. You’re closer to
God’s heart in a garden, than anywhere else on earth.” How true. God waters us
with His Word, it makes us grow; He weeds the sins that could stunt our growth
and He carefully prunes us so that we can bear fruit of His love..
