“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles
of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when
your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.” – James 1: 2 -3
WITH attempts to block schools from raising children in a Christian
environment now becoming commonplace, our faith is being confronted by a whole
new set of troubles linked to globalization. But just as James (Jesus’s
brother) taught early Christians scattered abroad, the bigger the challenge the
bigger the reason for joy because your faith needs to grow and deepen when
things get tougher. Is joy in the face of trouble a contradiction in terms?
Think on this; when everything is hunky dory, do we go on our knees? Most
often, its when we’re in trouble that we turn to God. And we need Him now, more
than ever, perhaps.
