“…and forgive
us our sins,
as we have forgiven those who sin against us.” – Matthew 6: 12
as we have forgiven those who sin against us.” – Matthew 6: 12
I WONDER - can anyone claim to have dealt with all the grudges they have
held against others? For that is what the Lord’s Prayer wants; if you can’t
forgive others, you can’t expect to be forgiven. And that could make unforgiveness
unforgivable for us. But does it? By God’s mighty grace, the same prayer asks
that God’s will be done on earth as in heaven - and it is God’s will (see Ephesians
4: 31 -32) that we “Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as
well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other,
tenderhearted, forgiving one another…”. And, again by God’s grace, we are
enabled live such forgiven and forgiving lives by faith in Christ. The
Ephesians scripture concludes …” just as God through Christ has forgiven
you.” God has set the bar; let Him be the judge.
