“Understand this, my dear brothers and
sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and
slow to get angry.” – James 1: 19
AND so, as I conclude our short series – “slow, quick,
quick, slow” – on dancing to God’s grace-full tune for our lives, we slip into
His “slow to anger” choreography. But damn it, it’s so easy to get angry. I’m
vulnerable in crowded parking lots, where everyone makes their own rules, and when
hearing the news of the government’s latest gaffe-of-the-day. When we’re at
risk of losing control, we must use God’s anger-management CEO, the Holy
Spirit, to restore calm. Anger is the opposite of joy, which is why we can trust God to always bring peace and joy – even
in the parking lot.
