“Dear brothers and sisters, when
troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.”
– James 1: 2
I ONCE read about an
American pastor who used to throw “Great Joy” parties. He prepared a cheerful
invitation, sent it out to lots of people, and then waited for the response.
“Why are you having this party? Is it your birthday? Your anniversary?”, the
invitees would ask. “No, I’m having a party because I’m going through a hard
time and I want to celebrate because I know God has something good planned for
me in the end.” I don’t recall how many pitched up, but at least it approached
the spirit of the scripture above.
