"Be thankful in all circumstances, for this
is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” - 1 Thessalonians 5:18
MANY, too many of us, are dissatisfied with
what we are, with our lives and circumstances. We look at others and are envious;
we regret and complain about our problems, health, wealth – or lack of both – and
we whine instead of worship. But we cannot worship without giving thanks, and
it is God’s will that we be thankful in fellowship with Jesus in all
circumstances.
Ask yourself, as Paul does in Romans 9: 20: “Should the thing that was created say to the one who created it, ‘Why
have you made me like this?’” Being
thankful in all circumstances can be inspirational; it’s not easy from a
wheelchair or worse, but it is possible by God’s grace. Jesus in us is our
source of joy, hope and gratitude. Others must desire to share what we have,
whatever our lot in this life.
PRAYER
THOUGHT: Father, help me to be
grateful for what I am and for what you have in store for me. Amen.
