Trust Him

“And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him.” – 2 Cor 3: 18

WHAT hope do we have of ever fulfilling a statement that we can gradually become like Christ, the greatest figure in history? None. Zero. No hope. Not a chance on earth, or in hell for that matter – if we try to rely on ourselves. We can’t trust ourselves, that’s for sure. We’re weak; we waver, we change like the wind.

But God’s promise depends on just that – we must not depend on trusting ourselves. Our entire trust must rest on the authority of God, through Christ. Our confidence must be in the One who never fails and who sent Christ to save us and mentor us. Forget the motivational speakers – pray every day to have less confidence in your own flesh and to not get in the way of God’s Holy Spirit at work on us.
