Quiet confidence

But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.” - Romans 8:25

WAITING on the Lord is meant to test us – and uplift us. I was given pause to ponder by a facebook post which said: “Patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting.” I thought it was written for moody me – and then came biblical confirmation.

For patience is one of the fruits the Spirit of God instils in us, along with self-control, kindness, love, joy peace etc. There’s nothing in Galatians 5:22 or 23 about anger or grumpiness; it doesn’t say “Oh, buzz off, I’m waiting for God to send relief.” Patience is indeed an attitude that comes from confidence in the as yet unseen (see Romans 8:25). That’s faith, true trust as God intended when Jesus entered your heart. And God never fails the faithful.
