“I will punish the
descendants because of Solomon’s sin – but not forever.” -1 Kings 11: 39
WHAT a wonderful promise that word contains - “but not forever.” The consequences of sin - the suffering and the punishment
- have been with us throughout history. But Godly correction of His children is
passing, as it should be when parents correct and then coddle naughty children.
Christians no longer live under law but under the grace of God. The grief we
suffer today is to bring us to repentance and increase our reliance on Christ
in order that we do not suffer the same fate as the wicked.
Why me Lord, you may be
asking? The answer is because you are you, a unique individual with a unique
purpose in life and a predetermined destiny. Your suffering is not eternal but
your salvation for which Jesus died on the cross most definitely is.
