‘Then Jesus told him (Thomas), “You
believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing
me.”– John 20: 29
EVEN
doubting Thomas was forgiven by Jesus, who didn’t believe Christ had been
resurrected until he saw Him face to face. But take special note of what Jesus
bestowed on the rest of us millions who across the centuries have overcome
distrust, doubt and cynicism by believing in Him without seeing or hearing Him;
Jesus said we are “blessed”.
“Blessed”
means more than mere happiness. Coming from Christ, it implies an envied,
desirous state of holiness for those who are in God’s kingdom. It is the state of hope, joy and righteousness
that God bestows on those who follow His Son walking by faith not by sight and will
spend eternity in His presence. Indeed nothing is impossible for such believers.
