DO you ever
worry that your life is lacking in some of the godly qualities Christians ought
to show? Do you have some harsh feelings and times of weakness and doubt? Where
is that “love, joy, peace, patience,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness” that ought to grow in us and flow to
others? Let’s turn to the gospel for encouragement, for it reminds us that even
in Jesus, our Saviour, grace had to grow.
Luke 2: 40 and 52 tells us: “And the child grew and became strong in
spirit…Jesus increased in wisdom and stature and in favour with God and men.” It was not always so when He took on human
form. Jesus is our example of holy development. The Lord wants our walk with
Him and our testimony to others to grow, just as in Jesus’ life. So don’t waste
time worrying; deepen your walk with Him “…that
you might become blameless and
harmless children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse
generation, among whom you shine like lights in the world.” (Phil 2: 15)
Spiritual growth is part of God’s plan.
