“No
power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation
will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in
Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8: 39
EVEN when we feel we’re not in
control, we’re not powerless. Faced with spiraling international and local
threats and events beyond our own control, we must remind ourselves that no
force in hell can take away the changes God has made in the hearts of those who
follow Jesus. The impact of the pandemic, attempts in Europe to ban the use of
the word “Christmas”, growing crime and poverty, may at times make us feel frustrated
and helpless, but actually they underline the importance of Christians being a
force for God’s good in a changing, harsher world. When we’re troubled or feel
vulnerable and confused, we must turn to Him, our source of loving power that
changes lives. Come, Lord, have Your way among us, in us and through us and we
will overcome.
