“Be completely humble and gentle; be
patient, bearing with one another in love.” – Ephesians 4: 2
THERE is great beauty in forgiveness, the
essence of God’s word. The phrase “bearing with one another in love” invokes
feelings of unselfish patience, of calm, graciousness, and care when things are
getting on your nerves. At the heart of Christ’s teachings, and His
relationships with us, is the humility of making allowances for our own many
faults and mistakes. We, in turn, cannot carry on harboring grudges and
irritations with others if we are to put up with them “in love”. In less
romantic terms, get over it and get on with it. We all have our faults, but God
forgives us in love and wants us to spread the beauty of His compassion and
forgiveness, in order to grow as true followers of Christ.
