“No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other,
God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.” – 1 John
4: 12
WE all need
someone to love – but I find it very unfair to be asked, “Who do you love the
most?’ Yet at a church I once attended, we were told that that a Christian’s
love priorities ought to be 1) God 2) your spouse 3) your family 4) your local church.
At first, I pondered, if love of God is paramount, am I not demeaning my wife
and family? But God’s Word – as in all things – has the answer. His two great
commandments are to love Him through Christ and to love others. God is love; the
more you love Him, the more He will enable you to love others, those closest to
you and others. His perfect love will spill over into your life’s various love priorities.
And as for your precious family, remember Acts 16: 31, “… Believe in the
Lord Jesus, and you and your family will be saved.” Being “saved” –
that God’s love word.
