Now then, you
kings, act wisely!
Be warned, you rulers of the earth! – Psalm 2: 10
Be warned, you rulers of the earth! – Psalm 2: 10
YESTERDAY we read about keeping our eyes constantly on the Lord through
reading the psalms, in order to take refuge in Him and know His intentions better. Today we quote a psalm which should help comfort
us in our politically power-mad world of lies, corruption, deceit and war.
10 Now then, you kings, act
wisely!
Be warned, you rulers of the earth!
11 Serve the Lord with reverent fear,
and rejoice with trembling.
12 Submit to God’s royal son,[d] or he (God) will become angry,
and you will be destroyed in the midst of all your activities—
for his anger flares up in an instant.
But what joy for all who take refuge in him!
We urge all in politics to note the warnings and the guidance. We urge
the rest of us, whatever our leanings, to pray this over them and to take
comfort in the closing promise. Christ will prevail.
