Let it flow

At that same time Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit, and he said, “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. – Luke 10: 21

KIDS at play (as many a parent knows) aren’t always little bundles of joy. But when they are, the joy just spreads. I almost envy them; isn’t such joy wonderful? It flows, and nothing intrudes; troubles are set aside. In our scripture today, Jesus is speaking about the joy of the Spirit, which is given to all who believe. The joy of God’s Spirit also just flows and is a source of delight that bubbles from within. But we aren’t always bundles of joy either, are we? Things are serious, and faith is tested. Don’t try to ponder all the solutions, just ask God to renew your simple childlike faith and the living fountain will flow from your heart.
