Roots of life

Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” – Colossians 2: 6 - 7
WE can’t do life fully on our own. We can try, with some success, but the point will come when we stop growing in direction, purpose and fulfilment. We need Jesus. When we find our roots getting tangled – whether in timidity, self-doubt, loneliness or an aching conscience - it’s Jesus we need. If our lives are rooted in Him, we’ll grow like oaks, not like a potted bonsai. As Pastor Phil Dooley preached on Sunday, if you find yourself praying these words, “Lord help me…”, add two more words – “to grow”. Then, as the scripture above says, your faith will keep growing strong and thankfulness will overflow.
