“Physical
training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits
in this life and in the life to come.” - 1 Timothy 4:8
WE certainly live in a
health-conscious world. Sport is an admirable means of social upliftment. And
what with the soccer World Cup, Wimbledon and the Tour de France bringing
heroes – and a few false idols, let it be said – into our living rooms, many
people are obsessed with sport. Of course, physical fitness is vital – our lives
depend on it. But let’s be reminded that our spiritual fitness is even more
important - because our eternal life in heaven someday depends on it. We must
not neglect our bodies, but even more so we must take care that our lives are
fit for Christ.
