Love’s priorities

“No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.” – 1 John 4: 12

I WAS taught that a Christian’s priorities in life ought to be our relationship with 1) God 2) your partner 3) your family 4) your church. At times I have pondered that if love of God is paramount, am I demeaning my wife and family? But God’s Word – as in all things – has the answer. God is love; if He lives in us, the more you love Him the more He will enable you to love your wife/husband/family/neighbour. Also, it isn’t always easy to love life; life can be unfair, but He enables you to see it through and love it anyway. His perfect love spills over into your life’s other priorities.
