Fear no evil

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” – Psalm 23: 4

CHRISTIANS know that Christ conquered death and the fear of death, so they have nothing to fear from Halloween – except being deceived by it. It has grown into a world-wide, scary but fun-filled ghoulish party using death and fear as the centre of celebration. No matter how innocently many participate in trick-or-treating, young believers and their parents must know it links them to many millions of others who are ardently celebrating witchcraft and ghosts of the past and present. Solomon asked God for, “... a heart of hearing and discernment to know the difference between good and bad”. So should we. Halloween has “bad” roots and loads of evil intent. So if there are tricks make sure they’re just for fun and let the treats be gifts of love. And pray for those who seriously partake in an ancient Druid’s evil festival of death and worship of ancestors.
