“Don’t repay evil for
evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them
back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant
you his blessing.” - 1 Peter 3: 9
WHEN every instinct
of our being is to respond in anger and wreak revenge, try instead to think of
something good to say or do. God’s word says if you want to enjoy life and see
many happy days, you must work at maintaining peace, watching what you say and
turning the wrongs you encounter into blessings. It’s a tough call if we rely
on our inborn instincts, but it carries blessings if we succeed – for “The eyes
of the Lord watch over those who do right” (3: 12)
