“Our purpose
is to please God, not people. He alone examines the
motives of our hearts.” – 1
Thessalonians 2: 4
WE must take care we are God pleasers, not just people pleasers.
God lights a fire in the
hearts of those who turn to Him and we should strive to spread the warmth of
His love. But we fan the flame of love by prayer, worship, reading His Word,
fellowship and being the witnesses in whatever ways we can.
We lose the fire
when we give up, whether in desperation, to temptation, or when our lives are
just too busy to sit at His feet. Don’t let your schedule cool your ardour. God’s
lexicon excludes the word “whatever…” - who cares, it no longer matters, I’m
lukewarm, the fire is gone. Even a church that thrives more on deeds than faith
can get in the way of people’s personal relationship with Christ. Do this, do
that, go there, what about that? Always remember, however good the deeds, no
matter how much you’re in demand, “…it
is impossible to please God without faith.” (Hebrews 11: 6)
