Always at the door

Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.” – Revelation 3: 20

THANK God for pastor Henry Duncan and the brief but life-changing word he shared yesterday. What relief, what freedom it brought to me and others, I am sure. For I was taught, welcomed and accepted that the scripture above, about Jesus knocking and standing at the door waiting for you to open it, applied to us accepting Jesus as our saviour, asking Him for forgiveness and inviting Him into our lives – a once-off thing, being born again.

Of course it is that – but there is even more to come! Jesus doesn’t only knock on the door once, said Henry, He is always there knocking and waiting and trying to attract our attention. We must be born again spiritually, that is a command from Christ. But life’s trials, temptations and distractions don’t stop then. Jesus remains there for you – especially for His disciples – and if you invite Him in when things get tough, when you can’t pay the rent, in times of sadness, trouble and tribulation, He will take care of everything. Whenever the things of this world distract you, listen…Jesus is knocking.
